A textual study of Upadeśa (Chapter) 1 and 2 of Svātmārāmas Haṭha Pradīpikā, a 15th Century Yoga Text on Haṭha Yoga.  Join Harsh, a scholar and practitioner of yoga from Kaivalyadhama, for this opportunity to study the Sanskrit text and explore Haṭha Yogas most celebrated scripture.
About the text:
The Haṭha Pradīpikā is one of the classical and most famous Haṭha texts that sheds light on the practice and discipline of the Haṭha tradition. The author Yogin Svātmārāma Sūri describes Caturaṅga Yoga (Yoga of 4 Limbs) viz. Āsana, Kumbhaka, Mudrā & Nādānusandhāna as well as engages teachings on Ṣatkriyas (six purificatory processes), an appropriate diet, lifestyle recommendations and other practical guidelines for yoga sādhakas.

The compassionate Svātmārāma expounds the lore of Haṭha for those who strive for the peak of Rāja Yoga!

Module 1. Self Paced Learning
Module 2 will be held at the end of 2023.

The course begins with an Introduction to Yoga, Schools of Yoga (Haṭha, Mantra, Rāja, Jñāna, Bhakti Yoga etc.) and important Yoga scriptures. After an overview of the text of study i.e. Hatha Pradīpikā we begin with the source text. We will do a verse by verse reading of the text in Sanskrit, its translation in English and go into the commentary where necessary. 

In Module 1, we will study and discuss the concepts put forth in the first chapter and seek to understand the deeper significance embedded in them.

Yoga Education Collective believes in inspiring and directing yoga practitioners to make a deeper inquiry into Yoga tradition and this course is an offering to study from the source text.

No prior knowledge of Sanskrit is required to take the course. Yoga students, teachers, sādhakas will greatly benefit by undertaking the study of Haṭha Pradīpikā as part of their Abhyāsa & Svādhyāya (Self -Study).
